Even in its current state, it's still enraptured the Shacknews Chatty community with its vast galactic sandbox spanning an enormous number of star systems. Today, Frontier Developments announced more information, including the price.

The final version of Elite: Dangerous will run for $59.99 on launch day. Those looking to pre-order the game and save a little cash can pick up the day-one Mercenary Edition for $50. This version will include the base game, as well as a second Eagle fighter ship in another in-game location, an exclusive pack of paint schemes, a 'Day One' decal, a digital players guide, a digital concept art book, and other unannounced goodies.

Elite: Dangerous is set to release in Q4 2014 on PC and Mac. Those interested in pre-ordering can do so here.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
