Republique had a long journey from Kickstarter-funded concept to full-blown release. For those that haven't had the opportunity to try out the first episode of Camouflaj's iOS tactical stealth game, Apple is offering a chance to pick it up for free this week as its Free App of the Week.

Republique centers around a desperate woman named Hope (voiced by Mass Effect's Jennifer Hale), seeking to escape an authoritarian, Orwellian-like state led by an all-powerful Overseer. Players must hack into the state's surveillance system and use its controls to help Hope evade the Overseer's forces and find her way to freedom.

Those looking to start their Republique story can pick up the game from the App Store. Episode 2 is currently available for $4.99 or as part of the game's Season Pass, while the third episode is slated to release this summer.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
