Naughty Dog 'looking into' Last of Us PS4 upgrades

The Last of Us: Remastered might get a discount for players of the PS3 original. Naughty Dog says it's looking into such an option and will update once it receives input.

The news that The Last of Us is making the trip to PlayStation 4 was exciting for fans--even if unsurprising. But a lingering question remained: would loyal TLU players on PS3 have to pay full-price to play the Remastered version? Naughty Dog has now given the first indication that it might offer an upgrade for current owners.

Asked about a discount on the PlayStation EU Blog (via GameSpot), Naughty Dog's Eric Monacelli said, "We’re looking into the business model for all this and will post about this once we have input from all regions."

That's far from finalized, but we've heard plenty of people hoping for an upgrade program, so Naughty Dog is doubtlessly hearing the same feedback. If they do decide to go through with it, it would likely only upgrade digital copies, but retailers might follow suit with a trade-in program. For example, GameStop is offering an upgrade to another Sony first-party game, MLB The Show 14.

The Last of Us: Remastered will include the Left Behind DLC, cast and director commentary, higher resolution character models, improved shadows and lighting, and upgraded textures.
