It's been a few months since we've heard of a Deus Ex name being reserved and ultimately not turning out to be a big-budget game, so we're about due. Square Enix has now registered a trademark for "Deus Ex: Mankind Divided," which according to the registration office covers video game software, printed material like books, and online services.

Before you get so worked up that you paint all your walls yellow, however, keep in mind that Square has been iterating on the brand in some surprising ways lately. Last year, we saw a trademark for Deus Ex: Human Defiance, which turned out to be a film title. Mere days later, we saw domain registrations for Deus Ex: The Fall, which we later learned was a mobile game. There is a chance that Mankind Divided will turn out to be the follow-up to Human Revolution, but it could just as easily be another side-project. We want to trust you, Square, it's just we've been hurt before.

"Oh boy, I sure hope it's going to be another iOS/android app title!" - Said no one ever.

The story was actually really cool, too bad the port was so buggy.
