The Harry Potter saga may be over, but that doesn't mean Hollywood won't look for other ways to cash in on the franchise. Warner Bros has announced "an expanded creative partnership" with J.K. Rowling that will see the release of yet another movie based on her wizarding world. The upcoming film will be based on Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, and the adventures of the book's fictional author, Newt Scamander. This is the first in a new movie series.
Unsurprisingly, the new film will lead to new games and other "consumer products."
"Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is neither a prequel nor a sequel to the Harry Potter series, but an extension of the wizarding world," Rowling said in the announcement (via Deadline). "The laws and customs of the hidden magical society will be familiar to anyone who has read the Harry Potter books or seen the films, but Newt's story will start in New York, seventy years before Harry's gets underway."
There's no date on the film yet, meaning it may be quite some time before we see a new Harry Potter game. And then, slightly more time before the LEGO adaptation.
