Star Trek: Infinite Space cancelled
by John Keefer, Aug 08, 2012 12:30pm PDTStar Trek has always had its share of enemies: The Klingons, the Romulans, the Borg. But Star Trek: Infinite Space finally encountered an enemy that German developer Gameforge could not overcome: the lack of interest in the game from potential partners.
"Since autumn 2011 we made many efforts to find a publishing and marketing partner for Star Trek: Infinite Space," the company said in a statement (translated from German by GamesIndustry International. "Unfortunately, our efforts were not successful. So we have decided with a heavy heart to finally abandon the project."
The developer/publisher had already had its share of troubles, laying off more than 100 people late last year and cancelling HellBreed and Mythos. The free-to-play Star Trek title was already hanging by a thread at that time, but the company had held out hope that it could find someone interested in helping with the game.

It was Klingons or the Romulans that brought Star Trek: Infinite Space to a screeching halt. It was the lack of a publisher that forced developer Gameforge to scrap the project.
