Angry Birds hits 1 billion downloads
by Steve Watts, May 09, 2012 11:30am PDTThe Angry Birds zeitgeist has reached another milestone, as the series has crossed a whopping one billion downloads. Just last November Rovio was celebrating half a billion downloads. At least some of the credit for doubling that number in only six months has to go to the newest entry, Angry Birds Space.
Keep in mind that's a number of downloads, so being available in various flavors and for just about every platform under the sun certainly helps. "Thank you to all of our incredible fans!" reads a note from the company in the announcement video. "This is only the beginning of our story, keep your eyes peeled for what's coming up next from Rovio!"
Angry Birds Space hit the number one paid app at launch, and was briefly displaced by Draw Something before regaining its top spot.
