Rumor: Dante's Inferno sequel on the way
by Steve Watts, Nov 29, 2011 11:45am PSTDante's Inferno may be getting a sequel from Visceral Games, according to a writer who seems to be attached to the project. Joshua Rubin has Assassin's Creed 2 in his list of credits, and has now dropped incredibly obvious clues that he's worked on a Dante's Inferno sequel.
Rubin's bio page (via Joystiq) mentions being "the sole writer for a Major Unannounced Sequel from Visceral Studios at EA Games." Lest you think he might be referring to the Dead Space series, he then says "a hint" and links to the Super Bowl trailer for Dante's Inferno. You're really stretching the definition of the word "hint," Joshua.
Dante's Inferno was a loose adaptation of the epic poem. It took a story that bored you in high school literature classes and spiced it up a bit with more swords and Lucifer-battling. Of course, it ended on a bit of a cliffhanger, because the Prince of Darkness is tricky like that.
EA and Visceral haven't officially announced a sequel, so this is in the rumor camp for now. Shacknews has contacted EA, and will update as more information becomes available.
