Ron Gilbert teases next game
by Steve Watts, Nov 29, 2011 10:15am PSTRon Gilbert has given an intriguing tease of his new project at Double Fine, in the form of two pieces of concept art. Titled "The Mobster" and "The Scientist," Gilbert says they're both playable characters in the unnamed game.
"This is an idea that has been in my head for a long long long time," Gilbert said. "It predates Maniac Mansion and Monkey Island. It's a game that needed to be made."
Gilbert neglected to give more details right now on his Grumpy Gamer blog (via CVG), only promising that "more will follow later."
Gilbert joined Double Fine in 2010. His most recent title was DeathSpank, but he's more known for his work on early PC adventure titles. When he moved to Double Fine, he promised "fans of those old adventure games will like" his next project. Meanwhile, Double Fine's new small games strategy has been paying off for the company, so it seems a likely bet that this title will be downloadable.
