Xbox 360 dashboard update live on December 6
by Andrew Yoon, Nov 22, 2011 6:30am PSTThe new Xbox 360 dashboard will be available for all to download on December 6th. As previously noted, the update will add a new Kinect-friendly Metro-styled interface, expanded voice controls, and additional entertainment & TV apps.
Microsoft says that "owners around the world will feel like they have a new Xbox."
It's unclear what TV apps will be available on the December 6th launch of the new dashboard. According to Major Nelson (via The Verge), apps will be available "on an ongoing basis through the holiday months." Planned services for Xbox Live roll-out include HBO Go, VUDU, Crackle, and more.
The dashboard update also adds cloud storage for game saves and Live profiles. In addition, the update will have "enhanced family settings," Facebook sharing, and the new Beacons feature.
To access many of these new features, such as cloud storage and live TV, you'll need an Xbox Live Gold account. But, you already have one of those, right?
