Street Fighter x Tekken coming March 6, PC version confirmed
by Andrew Yoon, Oct 14, 2011 3:30pm PDTCapcom's Street Fighter x Tekken event was loaded with tons of news for eager fighting game fans. The most important bit of news: a release date. The game will be available on PS3 and Xbox 360 on March 6th. As previously announced, a PlayStation Vita version is also in the works. Additionally, producer Yoshinori Ono confirmed development of a PC version.
Another important date: Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition ver. 2012 will be available on December 13th. The free patch rebalances the entire game, "making it feel like a new game."
Rufus was also confirmed as a character for the game.
Most of the evening was spent explaining the biggest addition to the game: gems. By equipping various gems, you'll be able to gain new abilities. Gems can modify your attack, speed, defense, etc. The various gems have different activation requirements, such as getting hit a certain number of times. By equipping three power gems, for example, you'll be able to dole out up to 40% more damage for a limited period of time.
The gem system was initially created to assist newer players, by introducing abilities like auto-block and auto throw escape. But before you go into a murderous fit (like the Comic Con audience nearly did!), note that every auto-block will drain the gauge by a third. No more power, no more auto-block.
Capcom released a new trailer fully explaining the system at Comic Con. When Capcom releases it publicly, you'll be sure it will be on Shacknews.
