Bethesda warns of another hack attempt
by Alice O'Connor, Aug 15, 2011 6:45am PDTJust when you thought the hacking frenzy had died down, another Gibson has been the target of dastardly doings. Developer/publisher Bethesda was in the crosshairs yet again and alerted its forum members, "We have identified a potential breach of our forum user database that occurred Friday morning, Aug 12."
Bethesda seems uncertain of how quite successful the hack attempt was, but has reset all forum passwords, "in the event that any encrypted forum user passwords were compromised." It advises that you also change the password on any other online accounts which shared the same password.
If you can't remember whether you had a Bethesda forum account or not, check your inbox--members should have received a warning e-mail from Bethesda.
This recent hack is just the latest for the games publisher. Bethesda servers were hacked in June. The former QuakeCon forums were later hit hit in July.
