Mortal Kombat Rain DLC coming July 19

NetherRealm Studios has released a trailer for its next Mortal Kombat downloadable content character: the purple ninja, Rain. Purple. Rain. Get it? To lay it on even thicker, Rain is a prince who was exiled from his home land. The DLC is due for release on July 19.

The trailer itself shows off Rain's unique aqua-murdering abilities and teases a few fatalities in which he uses water to both suffocate and crush opponents. What a way to go. Unfortunately, the trailer contains no slow jams from androgynous 80s pop stars.

Rain is the third of four announced DLC characters, after Scarlet and Kenshi. The fourth character is still being kept under wraps, but if you're a trusting person you can get a discount by purchasing the season pass on Xbox Live. Like all the DLC, it will include a free compatibility pack with a few 'klassic' character skins.
