At EA's press briefing today, the company revealed it will be publishing Insomniac's multi-platform debut, Overstrike. The four-player co-op action game follows an elite team called Overstrike 9 as they set out to stop a group of global terrorists. The team -- consisting of an ex-mercenary, a thief, a scientist, and a detective -- uses gadgetry that gives Insomniac a chance to play with its signature style of inventive weapons. It will be coming to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

"Overstrike presents a unique blend of features that have long been a part of the Insomniac DNA: high powered gadgets, action-heavy gameplay, memorable characters in a deep and mysterious universe, and of course a touch of humor," said CEO Ted Price. "And since this is our first multiplatform game, we're especially excited to introduce ourselves to a new audience - one which may not have experienced our previous games."

EA is currently on stage making announcements, this post will be updated as more information is made available.

why does the chick in these kinds of games always have to be the stealth class? How about a big butch steroid pumping woman playing the heavy? Do something that isn't predictable for Christ sakes.

the girl that runs around kicking men in the nuts is hardly stealthy

Because people like attractive characters and generally speaking, we find skinny hot chicks more attractive than big butch steroid pumping women. Both of the male characters are attractive as well and generally speaking, that's just kinda the way things seem to go.

It would be kinda neat to see big women, tiny ugly dudes, etc as main characters in games, but I don't think we'll see that short of make-your-own-character type games.

Getting a strong "The Incredibles" vibe from this...awesome! Now just put some solid gameplay in there and we'll be good to go.
