XCOM releasing on PS3, Xbox and PC in March
by Andrew Yoon, Jun 03, 2011 7:30am PDT2K Marin's controversial XCOM reboot will be releasing on March 6, 2012 in North America and March 9, 2012. A new trailer released today shows off the game's new first-person shooting gameplay, showcasing the game's nifty retro art and some over-the-top weapons. It certainly looks intense, but we doubt this footage will do much to dissuade purists' opinion on the franchise's new direction.
XCOM's development thus far has been a curious one. The recent departure of a studio head incited rumors that the project had undergone some "big changes" since its debut. Perhaps evidence of the game's tumultuous development is today's subdued announcement of a PS3 version of the game (in addition to the already-announced PC and Xbox 360 versions). 2K president Christoph Hartmann stated in a press release: "I’m pleased to announce today that we will be bringing this experience to an even broader audience when XCOM comes to the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC in March 2012."
