Assassin's Creed teaser fuels sequel rumors
by Steve Watts, May 02, 2011 11:45am PDTUbisoft may be joining the ARG train, with a Facebook page that drops hints towards the next Assassin's Creed game. Liking the page unlocks a looping Flash teaser. Savvy NeoGAF users noticed a logo embedded in the Flash file for "Assassin's Creed Revelations." Also notable in the file are scrawled words that have been interpreted as "Altair," the protagonist from the first game.
The file is being periodically updated with new scraps of info, and the latest catch is an image of the Phaistos Disc, a famous archeological mystery from Greece in the 2nd millennium BC era. So far attempts to decipher the symbols on the disc have been unsuccessful. This could be a hint of ACR's setting, or just Ubisoft throwing us a curve ball.
Like any good ARG, though, participation unlocks more info. As of the time of writing, the page's "Activity Monitor" is at 6%, and it tells users to "spread the word to reveal the next Assassin's Creed game." Presumably, if it gets enough "Likes," we'll see the full trailer.
We heard in February that we'd see a new retail Assassin's Creed this year, and that more information would be coming in May. This is right on schedule, so all signs point to Assassin's Creed Revelations being the next main AC title, but it could be a Facebook game, mobile game, or otherwise.

Ubisoft has been revealing pieces of the next Assassin's Creed game through its Facebook page. So far we seem to have caught the title (Assassin's Creed Revelations) and the name Altair.
