Call of Duty: Black Ops 'First Strike' DLC PS3 launch celebrated with power ballad
by Alice O'Connor, Mar 03, 2011 7:10am PSTIf you, like me, have ever wished that Call of Duty: Black Ops would use a song other than 'Gimme Shelter' by The Rolling Stones in its advertising, you're about to learn an important, Monkey's Paw-style lesson.
To mark the launch of the Cod Blops 'First Strike' map pack on PlayStation 3 today, Activision has released a machinima music video for the power ballad 'Wind of Change' by Scorpions.
Why would they do such a thing? You see, the German rock band's 1990 song celebrated political change in Eastern Europe, such as the fall of the Berlin Wall--a barrier which serves as the centrepiece for one of First Strike's maps. Furthermore, the Internet will find humour in the juxtaposition of German power ballad and face-shooting video game.
The $15 DLC packs five new maps, four for regular multiplayer and one for Zombies mode. It was released for Xbox 360 on February 1, racking up 1.5 million downloads within 24 hours, and is expected on PC later this month.
