Final Alan Wake DLC 'The Writer' Due in October

By Alice O'Connor, Sep 27, 2010 7:01am PDT 'The Writer,' Alan Wake's second and final piece of downloadable content, will be out on October 12 at 560 Microsoft Points, a trailer debuted on Gametrailers TV revealed.

The trailer show Alan in a topsy-turvy world of floating debris and toppled buildings as he seeks to "end the nightmare" with the aid of Thomas Zane.

While Alan's current tale is soon to end, Remedy has expressed interest in a sequel. Although it only placed eighth on the NPD sales chart in its launch month, Remedy has said it was "very pleased" with Alan Wake's critical and commercial reception.

  • If Microsoft really wants to show renewed interest in PC, then they need to start by doing some great ports of Alan Wake, Gears of War 2, Halo 3, Halo ODST, and Halo Reach. Two out of those to be released within the next 18 months.

Barring that, Microsoft doesn't care about PC gaming and is saying what they need to say to keep Apple from getting too much traction or Steam from getting too much credit for all they do for PC gaming as a whole. (Notice, I'm not saying "Windows gaming." I'm saying PC gaming. As in Personal Computer gaming.)
