Elemental 'Day 0' Patch Now Available on Impulse

Although its only been available for a day, Stardock has added a slew of new content and fixes to its fantasy turn-based strategy title, Elemental: War of Magic.

Users who purchased the game at retail now can download the "Day 0" patch via developer/publisher Stardock's Impulse digital delivery client. The patch adds new spells, a "Faction Editor" and additional mod tools. The release also fixes a bevy of issues, including tweaks to Elemental's AI and fixes for multiple crash bugs. Full patch notes are available on the official Elemental forum.

According to BigDownload, the 4X (explore, expand, exploit, and exterminate) fantasy strategy title will have its online component activated next week, as the feature is currently unavailable. A free content pack and a demo for the game are both due in September.

  • Enjoying Elemental, but it is rough around the edges. However the game has been entirely playable for the most part. Elemental is beautiful in a simple way, hard to explain. But the visuals are rich and the game sports some nice animations. The UI is clunky but again I expect some enhancements that will make the UI a little more intuitive. I very much like the turn based/role playing hybrid game design. I find the game becomes much more personal than your everyday turn based kingdom game. I have not been in too many battles so I'm not going to comment on that yet.

If you do not mind buying a game that could have used another month of polish I'd say buy it. I have not encountered any game breaking elements yet and right now the game is consuming all my free time. That must count for something. If you expect a feature rich game, I'd wait a month. As fast as Stardock is pushing out updates the game will be in much better shape.
