Morning Discussion

By Chris Faylor, Mar 10, 2009 7:28am PDT And a good morning to you, Shacknews. It's looking like a grey, rainy Tuesday here in northeast Indiana, but I am hopeful that the sun will come out at some point today.

I keep meaning to actually play some video games in my free time--50 Cent needs to be finished, Dawn of War II is looking lonely--but I keep getting distracted by The Wire. I'm mid-way through season 2, and it's to the point where I'm watching a disc per night.

Lastly, there are few things more annoying than a pair of headphones on its last legs. The sound on the right side keeps cutting in and out, and I'm getting dizzy. Blah.

  • Firefox help! again because there was nobody awake at 2am last night.

My G9 scroll wheel button is pretty stiff. So frequently when I'm middle-clicking on a tab to close it I'll accidentally bump the tilt wheel left or right causing Firefox to rocket through all open tabs in the blink of an eye. It's the same as selecting a tab and holding down the left or right arrow keys.

I looked through the options and about:config, but I couldn't find anything that looked helpful. Google searches have only turned up unrelated stuff about tabs and scrolling.

Does anybody happen to know how to disable this specific shortcut key? Horizontal scroll to change tabs? Or even left / right to change tabs might work. This is on 3.0.7.

As was pointed out in the one reply I got after I fell asleep, I know I can change the way my mouse behaves in Logitech's software, but I'd like to keep horizontal scrolling in Firefox for other things. I just don't want it to screw with my tabs all the time. :(
