Lord of the Rings: Conquest Demo Hits Xbox Live

In celebration of the new year, developer Pandemic has released an Xbox 360 demo of its upcoming Tolkien-inspired battleground game, The Lord of the Rings: Conquest.

Released on PlayStation 3 last week, the 1GB demo allows players to pick a side, hop online and fight in 16-person battles for the future of Middle-earth. At present, only Xbox Live Gold members can download the demo from the Xbox Live Marketplace.

The Hobbit-slaying action game ~~simply walks out of Mordor~~ heads to retailers on January 13, and will be available for PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Nintendo DS.

Got this demo like a week ago... It's ready... Still waiting for a really good LOTR game and I don't think this is it.

One question remains however, will Tom Bombadil be in it?

The archer combat was ok. The mage was fun too. The melee fighters have a lot of combos, but with no lock-on and a tight camera, it is tough to keep your target. Overall the lag was pretty constant and it just did not feel very fluid. Pretty cool visuals, but not too sure.

This game really sucks. The fact that there is so much melee combat and no way to lock on to enemies is ludacris, you just simply end up randomly moving and fighting. The aiming sucks as well. Also, trying to recreate battles that had thousands of enemies with servers that have barely 20 players makes it so weak. Pandemic had been pretty shoddy lately.

I'll be buying the PC version but I'm concerned. I tried the demo on my PS3 and it was nothing but button smashing so far. I "didn't" appear to take any skill. Hopefully I'm wrong when the full game is released.
