Morning Discussion

Well, we've got a new post for talking about it over here. But apparently once you go multi(player), you can't go back. Also, the Shack writers covered both the marketing of GTA4 and the marketing which has been fundamentally driven by gaming. Pretty neat!
If you need some variety from your grand theft coma, this weekend should premiere a pretty big change for Team Fortress 2 on the PC, with maps, medics and more, oh my. Plus, it's good to see the MMOs strengthening their non-Warcraft niches.

It did make me realize that the multiplayer experience is FAR from a 10/10 though. There are so many stupid bugs and quirks that you'd have to be crazy to say it's "perfect." I was really hoping that "Party Mode" would function the same way Halo 3 does, but it's a joke. If you want to get four friends together to play Team Car Jack City, I would expect to start a party, invite my friends, and start a game. However, the only thing that party mode does is allow a group of friends to all matchmake in to an online game, where you're not even the host so you can't control the game options!
For anyone wondering how to play with just friends, follow these steps:
1. In single player mode, select multiplayer on your phone
2. Go to player match
3. Go to custom game
4. Set the number of private slots to "max"
5. Invite friends!
You will have to select a game mode, but that is only for the first round; you can select a new game mode after each round.
Favorite moment from last night:
We were playing Cops and Crooks. My team was cops. My team was unlucky enough to have me as the driver. I warned my team that if I am driving we will probably all die, and stepped on the gas. My team laid down a waypoint to where the crooks spawned. They were pretty far away; we had to go over a bridge to get to them which always makes the path longer. Well I'm speeding along the highway and as usual I fail at slowing down enough for the turn and I clip the guardrail on the highway. This causes the car to launch into the air, spinning every which direction, flying at least 100 yards in to god-knows where. And that's when it happens. We land upside down on some elevated pipes right next to the enemy boss. It was the most amazing awesome thing I've seen in this game so far and I fear that I will never laugh so hard again in my life.
