Symphony of the Night Emerges on PS3, PSP
by Carlos Bergfeld, Jul 19, 2007 11:55pm PDTKonami's PlayStation vampire classic Castlevania: Symphony of the Night appeared on the PlayStation Store today as a $9.99 download. Playable on the PS3 or downloadable to a PSP, the title is currently the highest priced original PlayStation game available on the PlayStation store. All other classic titles max out at $5.99. Symphony of the Night's $10 price matches the 800 Microsoft Points ($10) required to purchase the Xbox Live Arcade version ported by Digital Eclipse in March. The Xbox-optimized version came in at 95MB, while the PlayStation Network download totals 355MB, implying a more straightforward port of the actual PlayStation game. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night redefined 2D sidescrollers when it launched in 1997, with beautifully animated sprites and a mix of role-playing and action elements. Gamers who wait until the holidays will have another option for playing the classic title on their PSP. Konami announced earlier this year that Symphony of the Night would be unlockable in Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles (PSP), an enhanced remake of the PC Engine game Castlevania: Rondo of Blood.

I'd love to see a new 2D castlevania that is better looking than something like odin sphere and longer and deeper than SotN.
