Double XP Weekend for City of Villains/Heroes

For all you City of Heroes and City of Villains players out there, NCSoft let us know that there will be a "Double XP Weekend" soon. From 11AM CST on Friday, July 21 until 9PM CST Sunday, July 23, everything you do in the game will get you twice the usual XP. According to NCSoft, the weekend "will give players the opportunity to level up their characters and gain access to many of the new features available in both City of Heroes and City of Villains".

anyone know if this works for free trials? I enjoyed CoH for a few weeks, would be fun to give CoV a try for the weekend.

Man, NCSoft really flailing with CoH/CoV not doing well, and Auto Assault tanking.

I'm enjoying COH. People complain about the grind, but it's actually still very enjoyable. Diablo/WoW has the same type of grind mechanism yet I barely hear any complaints about those.

Actually, WOW is worse. The 'get 7 tails, kill 30 tails to find 7' sucks.

You know your RPG has advancement issues when you have to institute "Double XP Weekends". I remember how annoying leveling up bacame around level 30 in CoH.

Is COV worth playing, or is it a carbon copy of COH? I hated the grind in COH, not to mention the XP hit you'd take when you die..is that still in the game?

Every now and then I feel a slight tug to play this game, but I don't want to buy it if it's essentially the same game that was released at launch.
