Luigi's Mansion Remake Coming to Nintendo 3DS This Year

Time to head back into the spooky old mansion with Luigi on your favorite handheld.

A Nintendo 3DS remake of the classic GameCube title Luigi's Mansion has been announced, and it's hitting the handheld this year. Once a GameCube launch title back when the console first made its debut, Luigi's Mansion will now grace your Nintendo 3DS as a companion to the well-received Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon. During today's Nintendo Direct presentation, Luigi's Mansion was shown off as a Nintendo 3DS title. Very soon (though Nintendo didn't touch on how soon), you'll be able to take Luigi's creepy adventure with you wherever you go.

Luigi's Mansion saddles Mario's brother with finding the sprightly plumber clad in red after he's gone missing -- though this isn't Mario is Missing. His search brings him to a haunted mansion that's chock-full of ghosts, and he has to gather all his strength and face his fears to bring his brother back.

The port of Luigi's Mansion, which released 17 years ago, will now come with a new Boss Rush mode and will feature the in-game map on the bottom screen of the 3DS. If you've been itching to try the game out but didn't want to spring for a GameCube to do so, consider plunking your hard-earned coins down on this new version, which should work quite nicely as a new 3DS title.
