CEO/EIC/EIEIO

Asif Khan is the CEO, EIC, and majority shareholder of Shacknews. He began his career in video game journalism as a freelancer in 2001 for Tendobox.com. Asif is a CPA and was formerly an investment adviser representative. After much success in his own personal investments, he retired from his day job in financial services and is currently focused on new private investments. His favorite PC game of all time is Duke Nukem 3D, and he is an unapologetic fan of most things Nintendo. Asif first frequented the Shack when it was sCary's Shugashack to find all things Quake. When he is not immersed in investments or gaming he is a purveyor of fine electronic music. Asif also has an irrational love of Cleveland sports.

        Thank you for the feedback.

We are definitely going to record David and I locally and have our remote guests record their own voice track.

I want this to have much better sound than our previous podcast.

How many different attempts at Shackcasts have there been over the years?

I know there was one with Remo and Gibson back in the day.

I think there was a brief attempt at a relaunch in the GameFly Administration.

As someone who worked at Shack for years trying to push our team to make this a better place with an emphasis on community and jumping in to interact with everyone when people hated the company's redesign and to make sure they knew they had advocates, the comment that the GameFly staff was disconnected from Chatty early in this episode made me (and Brian Leahy) super salty.

I accidentally stuck my foot in my mouth. To explain (posted this in a Twitter thread):

‪No disrespect intended to Xav or other former staff. I sincerely apologize for any offense.‬ I should explain what I meant as someone from the outside looking in at that time.

I was a big fan of Weekend Confirmed. Listened weekly until the show ended and thought all hosts were articulate, fun, and knowledgeable. But there was some sentiment amongst Chatty that some of the hosts didn't seem as tuned in to Shackers as they did other forums. I don't know that I ever expressed that, but other Chatty members did and I tended to agree. That was all I meant.

I shouldn't have made the comment at all, and the way I phrased it made it come across as a blanket condemnation of all former GameFly staff, which was unintentional.

To be fair, the Railgun was in Shadow Warrior before Quake 2.
