PopCap CEO and co-founder both leaving company

PopCap CEO Dave Roberts and co-founder Jason Kapalka are reportedly leaving the company, effective this Wednesday. Fellow co-founder John Vechey will take over the lead role, and described his plans for the future.

Plants vs. Zombies 2 starts Feastivus celebrations tomorrow

In case all the shop displays and television commercials and themed movies and novelty songs and ironic sweaters and video game events and familial guilt haven't clued you in yet, tomorrow is Festivus. PopCap's celebrating in its own special way in Plants vs. Zombies 2, with a series of special 'Feastivus' levels coming to the tower defense from tomorrow.

Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare reveals Battlefield-y mode

Comparing a Plants vs. Zombies game to Battlefield is pretty darn weird and unexpected and confusing but hey, that's PvZ: Garden Warfare in a nutshell. PopCap today revealed the class-based multiplayer shooter's 'Gardens & Graveyards' mode, describing it as "a bit of a mix between of Battlefield's Rush and Conquest modes, intertwined with some tower defense elements similar to the original PvZ."

Plants vs. Zombies 2 update ditches level keys, adds Gargantuars

Part of the free-to-play-isation of Plants vs. Zombies 2 was locking certain levels off behind gates, requiring players to farm keys (ho hah!) or give in and buy them. That's gone with the latest update, which turns the maps linear and opens up those previously-locked levels. It's not all rosy though, as Gargantuar zombies have been brought back to assault your lawn.

Peggle 2 multiplayer Duel mode coming in patch

Training in solitude is important, building patience and control, but true Peggle Masters are only formed in the heat of battle. To that end, PopCap plans to release a new free multiplayer mode for Peggle 2, bringing back the original's Duel with support for both local and online play this time.
