At long last, a new Dungeon Keeper is upon is! Oh. A new free-to-play mobile Dungeon Keeper. That's a bit different, then. Still, you might be curious to see how Mythic has turned Bullfrog's beloved dungeon overlord RTS into a tower defense/offense-ish asynchronous multiplayer doodad, and can do so now on iOS and Android.
What happens when an MMORPG shuts down? Well, it probably lives on through pirate servers. But what happens officially? It vanishes. With the death of Warhammer Online nigh, former lead client engineer Andrew Meggs has proposed an alternative: turning on a debug feature which lets the game run offline so the world lives on forever, albeit without anyone else in it.
Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning may be shutting down in December, but developer Mythic plans to go out with a bang. Everyone who's ever had an account for the MMORPG (well, an account in good standing) is invited to return for the final month without paying a penny.
It feels rare for MMORPGs to shut down nowadays, not without trying free-to-play first anyway, but Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning is for the chop. This December, after five-and-a-bit years online, the MMORPG based upon Games Workshop's tabletop wargame will shut down.
Ultima Forever: Quest for the Avatar, the spiritual follow-up to Ultima IV, is now available on iOS.
The Ultima series makes its debut on iOS with Ultima Forever: Quest for the Avatar, taking place 20 years after the events of Ultima IV.
Mythic's Warhammer Online: Wrath of Heroes will shut down on March 29, having never officially launched. It simply didn't make enough money for EA to keep running it. The free-to-play PvP arena battle 'em up entered open beta in April 2012, where it has stayed ever since, and shall until EA turns off the servers next month.
BioWare Mythic has gone back to its previous name, simply Mythic. It promises that all current projects are on-track.
