Japanese game makers talk Wii U potential

Though it'll likely be a year or more before the Wii U hits store shelves, Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu has rounded up some interesting commentary about Nintendo's first high-definition console from a slew of high-profile developers and producers.

Most of those interviewed had a bit to say about the technology itself, seeing positive potential in both the new HD functionality and the system's new controller. Capcom alums Hideyuki Kobayash and Jun Takeuchi see the Wii U controller--which features touch-screen functionality--as particularly challenging for game developers.

Report: Ninja Gaiden 3 features 'complex multiplayer'

Some details on Ninja Gaiden 3 have reportedly been spilled in the latest PlayStation: The Official Magazine (via VG247). One of the juiciest nuggets is word of a "complex multiplayer mode," though more details on what that actually means weren't disclosed.

We had previously heard that this game would show a more "human side" of protagonist Ryu Hayabusa, and the magazine claims this will be achieved by taking it in a darker direction. "We are trying to take the violent concepts even deeper and make people realize how it feels to actually kill someone and what it is to actually gut someone," said project lead Yosuke Hayashi. "It's very important to us that people realize that violence is not only about blood and gore." Read more »

Quantum Theory Set for Summer Release

Tecmo Koei delayed its third-person shooter Quantum Theory back in February. The game was originally due to be released in March on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

VG247 has confirmed with Tecmo Koei that the game will be released this summer. Early reports liken the game to Epic's Gears of War, as Quantum Theory appears to borrow heavily from the cover-based, third-person shooter.
