Everyone loves a good mash-up. DJs, fusion restaurants, and Glee all rely on taking two things people already love and squishing them together. The long-running Dynasty Warriors series is joining up with another classic anime franchise, after teaming up with Gundam three times. Not content to slaughter countless historical figures and robots, the series is treading new territory: the popular manga/anime series One Piece.

Though it'll likely be a year or more before the Wii U hits store shelves, Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu has rounded up some interesting commentary about Nintendo's first high-definition console from a slew of high-profile developers and producers.
Most of those interviewed had a bit to say about the technology itself, seeing positive potential in both the new HD functionality and the system's new controller. Capcom alums Hideyuki Kobayash and Jun Takeuchi see the Wii U controller--which features touch-screen functionality--as particularly challenging for game developers.

Some details on Ninja Gaiden 3 have reportedly been spilled in the latest PlayStation: The Official Magazine (via VG247). One of the juiciest nuggets is word of a "complex multiplayer mode," though more details on what that actually means weren't disclosed.
We had previously heard that this game would show a more "human side" of protagonist Ryu Hayabusa, and the magazine claims this will be achieved by taking it in a darker direction. "We are trying to take the violent concepts even deeper and make people realize how it feels to actually kill someone and what it is to actually gut someone," said project lead Yosuke Hayashi. "It's very important to us that people realize that violence is not only about blood and gore." Read more »

Between the March 27 launch of the Nintendo 3DS in North America (as well as its March 25 European launch) and E3 2011, Nintendo promises "more than 30 games" will be available for the new handheld. Nintendo has yet to detail its entire upcoming library, but a good selection has already been revealed.

Tecmo Koei delayed its third-person shooter Quantum Theory back in February. The game was originally due to be released in March on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
VG247 has confirmed with Tecmo Koei that the game will be released this summer. Early reports liken the game to Epic's Gears of War, as Quantum Theory appears to borrow heavily from the cover-based, third-person shooter.

Omega Force's Wii-exclusive slash 'em up Samurai Warriors 3 is coming to North America in fall 2010, publishers Nintendo and Tecmo Koei have announced.
As with Square Enix's Dragon Quest IX (DS), Nintendo will be publishing the game here in North America under a "unique partnership," one that presumably sees Nintendo attempting to highlight notable third-party titles with extra marketing effort. Read more »

Tecmo, publisher of the Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive series, has successfully negotiated a merger with fellow Japanese publisher Koei, and the two will join forces to form Tecmo Koei Holdings, which goes into effect on April 1, 2009.
Koei, the larger company, will hold three quarters of the newly combined publisher, according to Reuters. 20 billion yen ($207 million) in stock will be infused into the holding company at its launch. Read more »
