The Sims franchise just keeps on expanding. EA announced the latest addition to the popular franchise: The Sims 3 Pets. On the PC and Mac, Pets will be an expansion pack, but on Xbox 360, PS3 and Nintendo 3DS, it will be an entirely standalone game.
"For the first time ever, players will be able to play as their pets and see life through their eyes," Scott Evans, General Manager of The Sims Studio, said. Yes, the Sims franchise is no longer contempt with simulating human beings. Read more »

Cloud-based gaming service Gaikai has finally entered public beta testing, CEO David Perry has revealed on his blog. Five games can now be played direct from your browser, including the previously un-demoed PC edition of Dead Space 2.
Requiring no plugins beyond Flash and Java, Gaikai renders games remotely on distributed servers then streams the game back to your computer as streaming video. While input is somewhat lagged and visual quality is understandably lower than it'd be on a top-notch PC--look right for snaps from my own experiences--games are quite playable and will run on relatively low-spec hardware. Electronic Arts has announced its launch line-up for the Windows Phone 7 platform, which will initially include four games and support for Xbox Live. That includes achievements, i.e. the real reason to play games on Windows Phone 7. WP7 devices will be available on November 8 in the US (October 21 in Europe and Asia).
A large list of launch games was also released by Microsoft at Gamescom 2010. EA's four titles are Need for Speed Undercover, Tetris, The Sims 3, and Monopoly. More details about all four titles can be found below from Microsoft's press release. Read more »

Quick Take: One of the most popular PC gaming franchises heads to the console world (again) with some new twists. The upcoming version of The Sims 3 has the classic elements of its PC counterpart with some new additions that deepen the gameplay.
While previous The Sims entries have been watered down in their transition to consoles, this one has a chance to surpass the original. Read more »

Mega-publisher Electronic Arts has issued a breakdown of the games it will display next week at E3 2010, offering new release dates and windows for a few titles in the process.
RISK: Factions, the downloadable Xbox 360-exclusive revamp of the classic board game, will arrive on June 23, 2010.
Meanwhile, EA SPORTS NBA JAM--a Wii exclusive--will hit in October alongside the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 editions of the recently renamed NBA ELITE 11. Read more »

EA DICE's first-person shooter Battlefield: Bad Company 2 has sold five million copies since it hit PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in March 2010, Electronic Arts said today.
Amazingly, it seems that at least four million were sold during the game's first month at retail, as Electronic Arts noted that Bad Company 2 was among five games that sold over four million copies within its past fiscal year, which ended on March 31, 2010. Read more »

As mega-publisher Electronic Arts begins to detail its annual earnings, the company has also issued a revised schedule detailing its "key titles" through March 2011.
For the most part, the list is similar to the one the company issued in February 2010, though a couple games have been shifted around and / or properly announced.
Perhaps the most noteworthy detail contained within is the listing for Dead Space 2 PC, which was at one time certain but then relegated to being under consideration. Read more »

EA's urban living and serial killer simulator The Sims 3 will be released for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii and Nintendo DS this fall, the developer and publisher has revealed.
New 'Karma Powers' will let players to drastically influence Sims' lives, blessing them with treats including "instant beauty" or cruelly slapping them with an "epic fail," though EA warns "they may have unexpected results and karma may come back to bite." Read more »
