Call of Duty: World At War DLC Not 'Traditional'

Dec 02, 2008 12:44pm CST tags: Call of Duty: World at War, DLC
Treyarch's downloadble add-ons for Call of Duty: World at War will "not going to be what we've done traditionally," executive producer Daniel Suarez has teased.

While he was reluctant to offer more details--"I'll leave it a little bit mysterious," Suarez told MTV Multiplayer--he noted that more details should arrive in early 2009.

But while details are practically non-existent, Suarez expressed the studio's hope of delivering more downloadable content than the sole multiplayer map pack that was released for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. "We want to do at least--the hope is--potentially two, maybe three packs out before we're all said and done," he explained.

One thing's for sure, though: that content won't include maps and weapons from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Suarez told the site that no crossover content is planned.

Call of Duty: World at War Offers Double XP Week to Collector's Edition Owners in December

Nov 26, 2008 12:27pm CST tags: Call of Duty: World at War
Those that bought the PC and Xbox 360 Limited Collector's Editions of Call of Duty: World at War will be able to earn double experience points from online multiplayer from December 5 thought December 12, publisher Activision has announced.

For double XP access, owners must have activated their Limited Collector's Edition. For the PC, this is done automatically as the serial code is entered during installation, with any server offering double XP. Xbox 360 LCE owners will need to play on the "Officer's Club" playlist for double XP, and must have registered on the official site and then downloaded the accompanying token.

Those that purchased the regularly priced edition of the Treyarch-developed shooter are not eligible to participate in the promotion, nor are PlayStation 3 owners, as the PlayStation 3 did not receive a Limited Collector's Edition of the game.

Priced at a $20 premium--$70 on PC and $80 on Xbox 360--the Call of Duty: World at War Limited Collector's Edition promised an exclusive weapon, a week of double experience and a real-life canteen that was not intended for drinking.
