Red Factions: Origins Movie Debuts on SyFy Channel in March 2011

SyFy and THQ's upcoming film based on the Red Faction series will finally see life this March. The SyFy-exclusive live-action film, now titled Red Faction: Origins, is set to launch within the same window as Red Faction: Armageddon.

Described as a "pilot" movie, the two-hour film follows Jake, the last surviving son of Alec Mason, as he battles against a new human army who have lured his sister into their Red Faction-hating web. Origins is set to take place between the events of Red Faction: Guerrilla and Red Faction: Armageddon.

The film is also said to tie-in with the upcoming downloadable product, coming "three to four months" before the retail release of Armageddon. As this is a SyFy series, we expect no less than three cameo roles from Canadian actress Tricia Helfer. THQ included a new screenshot of Red Faction: Armageddon, added in the gallery below.

Wow, THQ is really pushing this IP. Not sure if it's a good thing or not, but judging by other SyFy movies... this one is going to be awful. I'm interested to know what the downloadable product is, especially if Volition is behind it.
