Alan Wake Getting More Episodes via DLC

25
There will be more to Alan Wake's story than just what's on the disc, as Microsoft has confirmed that additional episodes for Remedy's so-called "psychological action thriller" will arrive as downloadable content following its spring release on Xbox 360.

"Imagine the TV show Lost as written by Stephen King and filmed by David Lynch, and you have Alan Wake," Microsoft executive Robbie Bach said of the game during a presentation at this year's CES. "Story-driven like a TV series, Alan Wake will be told in episodes, with even more episodes available on Xbox Live after its launch this year."

The first major release from Max Payne veterans Remedy Entertainment in nearly a decade, Alan Wake was also due on PC, but that version is now uncertain.

Chris Faylor was previously a games journalist creating content at Shacknews.

TV shows should just be 22 hour marathons. Fuck them for making me wait a week to see the next hour.

Hey, I hear what you're saying, but it does come off as a little silly to be talking about DLC on a title that has been delayed so much. I'd like to see some reason (demo, gameplay vid, etc.) to believe that the game is actually nearing completion before we get all misty-eyed about DLC/expansions.

the reason they announce DLC now is Marketing fuckups think that by telling people DLC will be out at some point then people who buy the game when it eventually comes out won't trade it back in as a used game.

So they do it because they think its going to reduce the amount of used game sales and icnrease the new game sales.

Of course it really just pisses off the hardcore players, who then tell their casual friends who trust them that the game is "gay"

Or they could just be trying to express that the game will be supported and that people who buy it and like it will have more down the line.

The only time I think it's fucked up to announce DLC is when it could just be included with the game. IW annouced a paid DLC map pack for MW2 before the game was out, that is fucked up. Episodic content? Thats actually a good thing usually.

Agreed. I couldn't care less about DLC on a game that hasn't come out and that has been delayed time after time after time.
