Portable Nostalgia: New 'Dark Spire' DS Title Offers Classic RPG Mode

2
Publisher Atlus has announced The Dark Spire, a Nintendo DS game that at first seems like a remake of a classic RPG. However, the truth is somewhat more unique. Released earlier this year in Japan under the name Genmu no Kiri to Ken no Okite, The Dark Spire is in fact a new first-person RPG that features both a modern and classic view mode. The modern view features detailed artwork and interfaces, while the classic mode's style evokes RPGs of yesteryear with simplified graphics of the same scenes.

Developed by Rondo of Swords creators Success, the game is set to hit the Nintendo DS on March 10, for an MSRP of $30.

Nice concept. I hope the game itself is up to snuff, since Rondo of Swords was generic mediocrity.

It seems like Atlus is really hit and miss on picking stuff worth publishing/localizing.

Their internally developed games always seem to turn out well, but most of their published stuff is just bad, or mind-numbingly mediocre.
