The changes they have made to the game do have me a little worried, but im such a sucker for the IP that I will most likely end up getting it whatever happens.

Same. The complete removal of base building makes me sad. Also having more limited unit encounters. But, I think the game will be quite different and hopefully help it stand out. Relic is good stuff...I'll like it.

I guess I just need to change my assumptions of what it should be.

This is actually a lot closer to the real warhammer formula. Which base building never has been a part of.

DoW never was a mirror image of the original game and IMO did a very good job of building off of what was already there.

Sure, but that's not what I'm talking about.

Not for MP, which still plays like DoW1 / CoH.

oh, well, that'll be interesting. But I loved the original DoW. Hopefully this will be a worthy successor.

I never played the tabletop games, but I do paint the minis for fun.

Oh, I didn't know that. Great to hear though, MP's where it's at anyway.

This is good news. That was my one big worry...but it actually sounds like they're going to have it both ways if you will which should provide a great experience all around.

Base building is still in in multiplayer, but in singleplayer you have a limited number of squads you can equip and develop differently. So the MP is kind of like Company of Heroes and the SP/Co-op is like Company of Heroes + X-Com + Diablo.

No base building gameplay is only for SP.

The SP campaign is different than the MP campaign. MP is still handled like the original titles. While the SP is a brand new design from Relic. Making it more tactical and closer to the board game it seems.
