Earlier this morning, Mirror's Edge senior producer Owen O'Brien noted that the upcoming downlodable content would feature a "a more abstract aesthetic."

Now, publisher EA has provided some media. Abstract? Well, that's one way to put it.

Promising "no guns, no cops, and no city," the seven downloadable Time Trial maps will hit PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 in late January, priced at 800 Microsoft Points ($10). In addition, PlayStation 3 owners will receive an extra downloadable map for free.

Already out on consoles, the first-person free-running game is due on PC January 13.

Chris Faylor was previously a games journalist creating content at Shacknews.

Absolutely ridiculous. Yes, I would've preferred a gun-less, cop-less game. However, I also like basic things you know ...like structure, and textures.

havent played the game, but these TT levels look like a lot of fun and a little bit of frustration. frustration that can be somewhat good for game masochists (like me).

It looks like it took them approximately 2 days to make all these blocky levels. That would have been awesome if the DLC stuff was a bunch of straight city levels you had to book through.

Just b/c it's blocks doesn't mean it only took two days. Based on the video it still looks fairly complex. It's like the made the same types of levels but removed the city from beneath it.

I think this kind of level would work really well with Mirror's Edge. It matches the visual style well and changes things up.

for me, ME was not a bunch of blocks

Which is why this kind of level design would, as I said, change things up.

Although ME got my interest, THIS looks really really neat. Very Portal like. I'm down.

It is the same visual style though. The most distinctive thing about Mirror's Edge graphically is bright primary and secondary colors mixed with lots of white. These maps still retain though, so they fit. Thematically, perhaps not...but graphically, yes.

It looks good to me, or it least it would if you didn't have to pay for it.
