Sonic Goes Medieval, Gets a Sword in Latest Effort

Jul 21, 2008 11:00am CST tags: Sonic and the Black Knight
Sega today announced Sonic and the Black Knight, a Wii-exclusive action title that throws the iconic blue speedster into medieval times and arms him with a sword.

Slated to arrive in spring 2009, the Sonic Team-developed effort is said to mark the second release in the Sonic Storybook Series, which began with the Wii-exclusive Sonic and the Secret Rings.

Whereas Sonic and the Secret Rings was based off the tales of Arabian Nights, the Black Knight is inspired by the fabled adventures of King Arthur. A Sonic game due out this fall, Sonic Unleashed, turns the mascot into a stretchy grey werewolf at points.

"Following Sonic on his way to knighthood will excite players of all ages," claimed Sega Europe marketing director Gary Knight.
