Devastation Interview

35

As I promised when I posted those environmental screenshots from Devastation on Saturday, we now have an interview about the game. Senior Producer Vic DeLeon (thoroughly) answers questions about the single player campaign, teamwork, AI, modifications made to the Unreal engine, multiplayer options and several other topics. Three new screenshots are included.

Shack: How does Devastation benefit from using the Karma physics engine? Vic: It changes the nature of the shooter at its very core. You can kick, push, pick up, carry, throw, roll things downhill etc. You can make noise by running into things like trash, or you can set traps and barricades. It has really gone a long way to make our game world a living, breathing place where almost everything is useable. There's really so much that hasn't been said about this, and I'll gladly shed some light on it. Almost everything you come across in the game can be kicked, knocked over, pushed, picked up, carried, used as a shield, and THROWN! Chairs, boxes, buckets, gas cans, oil drums, barrels, TV's, all kinds of crap, even trash you find in the street. Here's some advice about making your own shield out of barrels- water barrel=good, kerosene barrel=bad.
Check it all out here.
