In celebration of Heroes of the Storm's "incredible" 2016, Blizzard is opening up the game's Hero roster for free this weekend.

"To kick off 2017, celebrate everything that has happened in the past year, as well as everything we have planned for the year to come, we’re inviting everyone to enjoy three days of a completely full Hero roster from January 13–16," Blizzard wrote on the game's official site.

Specifically, Heroes of the Storm's full roster will be open from January 13 at 10am PT / 1pm ET until the same time next Monday, January 16.

Heroes of the Storm features a deep cast of characters from all Blizzard properties, from contemporary IPs like Diablo and StarCraft to ancient brands like The Lost Vikings. Normally, players get access to six free characters that Blizzard rotates weekly. Heroes can be purchased using real money or in-game currency.

Fans of Heroes have a lot to celebrate. Blizzard recently added Zul'jin, an Orc hero who made his debut in 1995's WarCraft II. Other events themed after Blizzard games and characters include a Diablo-themed portrait commemorating the hellishly addictive action-RPG's 20th anniversary.

To boot, veteran Blizzard designer Alan Dabiri stepped in to fill the role of Heroes of the Storm director for Dustin Browder, who announced in early December that he would be moving to another internal project.
