Super Mario Run's Android Release Date is Up in the Air

Android users might have to envy their iOS-using friends for a while.

Super Mario Run hit iOS devices, like the iPhone and iPad, today. However, for Android owners, getting to play Super Mario Run might be a pipe dream, at least for a while.

Nintendo premiered Super Mario Run during a September 2016 Apple event so the game being exclusive to that platform was a no-brainer. Nintendo, like many mobile game developers, is hesitant to bring their game to Android for fear of piracy. It's no secret that games are a lot easier to crack and pirate on Android's platform, which gives users much more control over a device's file system and security settings.

While Android users can still enjoy Nintendo games like Pokémon GO and Miitomo, an Android version of Super Mario Run isn't on the horizon just yet. Although Nintendo has given a vague date of "2017" for Super Mario Run's Android release date, when asked, their only comment was, "information about that version will be revealed in the future."
