Sony has taken over publishing duties of Team Ninja's upcoming action game, Nioh, for its North American release.

Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced it will be handling publishing duties for Team Ninja’s Nioh both in North America, Europe, and Asia.

Sony and Team Ninja have certainly put Nioh through its paces as it will have multiple display options, which will be available for both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro. The PS4 version of Nioh will support Movie Mode, Action Mode, and Movie Mode with variable frame rate, while the PS4 Pro version has multiple display modes based on the player’s target resolution. Movie Mode focuses more on high-quality graphics at 30fps, while Action Modes will have more of an emphasis on frame rate.

Nioh was first announced last December and has since continued to impress as players have been able to play several demos throughout the year. With Sony handling publishing duties of its Western release, we have no doubt it’ll continue to get the attention and polish it deserves.

I hope the final version is quite a bit more tuned than the alpha demo they released. I loved it at first because it felt like Samurai Dark Souls... but it got unnecessarily difficult and unfair in some places which didn't feel right. And that's coming from a huge Dark Souls fan.

The unwritten rule for Dark Souls with me was that when I die I need to feel like I screwed up. I should hate myself, not the game if they are doing it right. I eventually just said "fuck this game" during the Nioh demo and never went back. I'm curious how the final product will come out.
