Square Enix Collective has announced a new 2D cinematic adventure game, called Forgotten Anne, is currently in development for PC and consoles.

Forgotten Anne combines a puzzle platformer with adventure game elements to offer a seamless cinematic experience. Players will assume the role of Anne as she keeps order in the Forgotten Realm, which is a place where all that is lost and forgotten goes. While Anne is working as an enforcer, a rebellion begins to rise and it’s up to her to end it in order for her and her master, Bonku, to return to the human world.

Forgotten Anne is currently in development at ThroughLine Games and is expected to release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in 2017.

Square Enix announced its Collective program back in late 2013. The publisher promised its Collective program would allow those who participate to have their games showcased to a dedicated and core gaming community as well as offering feedback on projects. Square Enix also wants to give the majority of sales revenues back to its developers, while also wanting to reinvest any profits back into the platform.

After seeing the teaser trailer for Forgotten Anne, we certainly think the Square Enix Collective program is on the right track. So far, you can consider us very impressed by its initial offerings.
