EA announces the top five quarterbacks in Madden NFL 17

Madden games have lots of quarterbacks. Here are five of the best, better than all the rest.

EA developers posted a blog update breaking down the top five quarterbacks in Madden NFL 17, due for release on August 23.

Aaron Rodgers comes in at number one with a 96 overall rating. Cam Newton and Tom Brady are hot on his heels, with 94s. Ben Roethlisberger isn't too shabby; he holds a 93 rating. Russell Wilson's 91 overall rounds out the pack.

Although the five QBs are closely matched, assorted strengths distinguish them further. Aaron Rodgers, for instance, boasts high speed, throw power, and throw-on-the-run ratings, meaning there's virtually no pass he can't land.

Check out EA's overviews for more nitty-gritty details.

Madden NFL 17 is being developed by EA Tiburon and will release on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, and PS4. EA Access subscribers will get to throw the pigskin a little early, though. Keep that in mind if you're jonesing for this year's iteration in EA's flagship football series.
