You Won't See An Activision Booth At E3 2016

The company's presence will be felt in other ways.

It seems E3 is going to be a lot quieter this year, as Activision Blizzard has announced it will be skipping the E3 show floor.

Instead, Activision will be showing off what it has to offer via partners like Sony. This news comes straight from the official Activision blog, where it was explained that the latest Call of Duty entry will be shown off via Sony, but Activision itself wouldn't be making an appearance.

This isn't unheard of, but it is a little bizarre to see such a huge company keeping away from the E3 show floor. When asked for comment on the situation via GameSpot, E3 host The Entertainment Software Association said it does "respect Activision's decision and appreciates their continued participation in E3."

Nintendo set the trend - you can reach a big audience without having to hire a huge auditorium etc.

When I read "The company's presence will be felt in other ways." I immediately had the image of people wearing trenchcoats trying to peddle Activision games to unsuspecting faire-goers.

They probably figured why bother. Every 13 year old probably already has a subscribe and save order set up for Call of Duty on Amazon.
