Mass Effect: Andromeda Won't Be Arriving Until Next Year

Mass Effect fans, it's going to be a lot longer than expected before you can get your hands on Mass Effect: Andromeda.

According to EA CFO Blake Jorgensen, the upcoming entry in the long-running sci-fi series is not releasing until the first quarter of 2017. During the Morgan Stanely Technology, Media and Telecom Conference, Jorgensen made the announcement along with revealing the upcoming new Battlefield and Titanfall sequel, as well as Mirror's Edge before mentioning Mass Effect:

“We have our Mirror’s Edge runner game this first quarter, and then we have Mass Effect, which is a sci-fi action game, in our fourth quarter. So big year ahead and we’re pretty excited.”

It's true Mass Effect: Andromeda has never been graced with an official release date, so it looks like we're one step closer with this announcement. At least that's plenty of time now to carve out some time to finish out the backlog that's been accumulating for the last year or so. It's rough.

Why would they be low? There has never been a bad Mass Effect game in my opinion. Has there been in yours?

It had many great, memorable moments. I liked it better than ME2, which was too simplified and poor story. If only they ended the game at the moment of Anderson's death, it would be hailed as the best game ever. Alas, we got the stupid Star Child and convoluted Ending DLC which did not help much.

You could play it 97% of the way and then the computer explodes but if you still had to write a review for the deadline, you'd rate it highly and probably say GOTY contender.

There was a lot of awesome stuff the game did and you got to visit more places than before especially places that only was mentioned in the past games and codexes.

Loss of staff, increase focus on multiplayer, and the general fall of Bioware over all.

I never finished 3. I beat the first 2 on Xbox, picked up 3 on PC and ported my save over, only to realize that controller support was non existent.

No controller support on the pc annoys me so much. I'd love to replay these someday but I'm not going to be keeping my 360 around and I much rather play 3rd person games with a controller.

I'm hoping for a remaster that includes all games+dlc with controller support added back in.

Same here. I hope that maybe this delay is so they can bring the trilogy to modern systems.

There are third party apps you can use to map your 360 controller to mouse and keyboard macros. Of course you will not get 360 button prompts, and you will probably need to be comfortable controlling the mouse cursor with an analog stick on certain menus.

Do we know anything about this game yet? I remember the really small teaser back in what, '14? Haven't read anything more about it since.

The Witcher 3 has pretty much broken me. imho much like how WoW kind of created an expected level of quality for mmorpg's I feel that the witcher 3 did the same with rpg's. I think CD projekt caught many pubs and devs with their pants down in the rpg genre.

ps I'm still in friggen Velen and loving every second.
