September 11 VR experience 08:46 tells a story of an office worker in the North Tower

We're all for experiencing things in VR, but something tells us a September 11th VR experience may be a bit much.

We’ve experienced and reported on some interesting VR experiences in the past. We recently played a game where two players work together to defuse a bomb, and would like to get our hands into some alien anatomy in the upcoming Surgeon Simulator VR game. One VR experience we think we can safely do without is this one that has players experiencing the tragic events of September 11th, 2001 from the perspective of office workers inside the North Tower.

08:46 was developed by the six-member development studio, 846 Studios. The project took it three months to develop in collaboration with two actors for both voice and motion capturing. As you can see from the introduction video below, you’ll work as an office employee in the North Tower, which was the first tower to be hit on September 11th.

The VR experience was released on September 11, 2015, although we just caught wind of it today. Since we haven’t tried it out for ourselves, we don’t know just how far the experience goes, although there’s a screenshot on the official website that shows people making their way through a dark corridor with portions of the ceiling collapsed.

If you want to try it out for yourself, 08:46 is available to download. Just make sure you know what you’re getting into prior to trying it out.

Yeah, I think I'm going to pass on that one. I've had enough trauma this month, I'm okay.

You can see the thermite for yourself, it's right there behind the microwave in the kitchen.

Hey, great coverage... basically you reported that you haven't played this, are choosing not to, and advise players to know what they're getting themselves into although you don't know anything about the game other than the subject having not played it. This is disappointing. I felt like I had gone to fox news for a second.

This would be like immediately ignoring all of the albeit not that great films about this awful day because we all know what happens and its terrible. For all any of us know, this could have a pretty powerful story or message behind all the awful things we know happened but I suppose why take that into consideration.

I would have at least expected you guys as a news outlet to give it a go before "reporting" on it.
