Microsoft has announced all console versions of Minecraft will receive a free update starting today that will offer a number of tweaks and additions.

The new version of Minecraft will allow crafters to play in a world that’s completely void of mountains and caverns, meaning you can customize a flat world, if that’s what you’re into.  A number of game options are included, such as the ability to change the game mode, difficulty, time, player spawn position, ambient cave sounds, and weather without leaving your current game session.

A number of new items will also be included such as new Oak, Spruce, Birch, and Jungle wood types as well as Fences, Gates, and Doors. Iron Trapdoors, Inverted Daylight Sensors, Book & Quills, and Stained Glass are also included in today’s update. For players who prefer the classic crafting style, they’re now able to do so.

Lastly, a free bundle of skins will be available to celebrate this week’s Minecon 2015. The Minecon 2015 Skin Pack will be available for just two weeks, so be sure to snag them as they’re the only pack that features Alex and Steve wearing a selection of Minecon capes.
