Original story: Blizzard is taking a step closer to releasing its entry into the MOBA genre by launching the closed beta for Heroes of the Storm. The festivities are set to begin today, following a brief maintenance period. The closed beta will add several new features, as well as a new map and a new hero from Blizzard's library.

Heroes of the Storm will get an overhaul to the tutorial system, as well as the opening menus. Those already familiar with the game's content can get excited about the addition of the Sky Temple battleground, which will feature temples of power that can wipe out fortifications. Warcraft's Thrall also joins the fight with his Frostwolf Resiliency ability. Look for overhauled player skins to add some visual flair to the game, as well.

The closed beta will also introduce Hero League for Level 30 players with at least 10 Heroes.

Those looking to get into the Heroes of the Storm closed beta should check their Battle.net accounts today. If an invite is not there, check your Beta Profile page.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
