Take Super Smash Bros. 3DS to a new level with this GameCube controller mod

A mod for the Nintendo 3DS allows for the use of a GameCube controller. This will most likely be something Super Smash Bros. players will be very interested in.

Nintendo 3DS owners have probably shut themselves away from society this weekend as Super Smash Bros. for 3DS was released this past Friday. Our own Ozzie Mejia reviewed the title giving it an 8 out of 10, although if he knew of this particular mod, then his experience with the title might have drastically changed.

Modder dekuNukem created a hack that allows Nintendo 3DS owners to be able to use GameCube controllers to play their games. With the launch of Super Smash Bros. on the 3DS, this mod is something we’re sure many of you will want to attempt to recreate sooner rather than later.

Unfortunately, you’re going to need a bit of technical know how as the mod requires the use of resistors, a circuit board and an old LCD screen from a Nokia phone. Thankfully, you won’t be spending a fortune on the mod as it’ll cost around $12 in parts needed, although that definitely doesn’t include the GameCube controller, which we’re sure will rise in cost shortly after Super Smash Bros. for Wii U’s release.
