It’s been a while since we’ve seen a new chapter in Koei Tecmo’s Fatal Frame series, which focuses on spooky goings-on, where the player is only armed with a camera when it comes to fighting said supernatural forces. However, that all changes on September 27^th, when the latest chapter in the series, under the name Zero: Nuregarasu no Miku, arrives in Japan for the Wii U. (That translates to Fatal Frame: The Black-Haired Shrine Maiden, so you don’t have to look it up.)

In the game, you portray Yuuri Kozukara, the “shrine maiden” in question, who can see souls that have been taken to the spirit realm. She has the ability to bring them back to the land of the living, if she chooses.

The game’s general mechanic will once again focus on a camera, which the players can use by moving around their GamePad. (It’s just built for that sort of thing, isn’t it?) You’ll be able to take spectral pictures throughout, and deal with your fair share of scares. (Say that five times fast.)

This edition of Fatal Frame doesn’t have a U.S. release planned, but Spirit Camera: The Cursed Memoir did manage to make its way to our shores a couple of years ago for 3DS, so you never know…
